It was one of our best ski trips. The weather was almost perfect and ski conditions were very good. I love Spring Skiing!
For the first time we stayed at Silver Creek Lodge. This Snowshoe, West Virginia lodge is adjacent to the Silver Creek ski area and offers a complimentary ski lift shuttle. The Village at Snowshoe is just 2 miles away, where we usually stay. I am on the 7th floor balcony upon arrival to the lodge. Silver Creek ski area is the only Snowshoe area that offers night skiing.
We joined the Snowboard Meet up group for this trip. They booked a 4 bedroom suite in two levels with the great amenities. We had a separate room, full kitchen, on-site fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools with Jacuzzis, free parking and Wi-Fi access among others.
Morning looks good at Silver Creek.
Everyone is heading to the slopes, which are located right at the end of the lodge. Very convenient.
Here, at Silver Creek, our ski lift passes needed to be scanned only once at the entrance to the ski area as opposed to scanning at each lift at the main Snowshoe ski area. The slopes are accessible right from the entrance.
The first lift we hit from our first slope was the Cascade Lift. It wasn’t crowded at all in the morning and wasn’t too crowded later in the day.
The Black Run Sugar Shack featuring great food and drinks slopeside is located right across from the lift. We visited this Shack several times during whole day of skiing.
Dave took this picture with GoPro camera attached to one of his ski poles. He also took some nice videos the same way. I might post the videos later on.
This is the highest ski trail point at Silver Creek reachable by the Flying Eagle ski lift. From here you can chose your favorite slopes depending on the difficulty level, from lower to higher: green, blue or black. We were skiing on the blue slopes mostly.
The Silver Creek lodge is seen from here. Anytime you feel like to going back to the lodge, you can do it at a certain point on the slope, or you can keep running down to one of the ski lifts.
The Cascade blue trail was closed due to Rob’s Run competition, but we were able to hit it during the night skiing. It was interesting watching the rally from the ski lift.
Here is the Flying Eagle Ski Lift. Kids from Ski & Snowboard school were very good.
After dinner, we went to explore the night skiing. It started snowing and warmed up even more. It was very nice, we didn’t want to go back to the lodge, but night skiing is only until 9 pm. We didn’t feel it, but we were getting tired. 🙂
Then, we had a nice relaxing time with our “gang” at the pool, Jacuzzi and sauna. Good way to finish a great day. Until next season!
