In December, Dave and I started a new ski season at Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia. We enjoy this resort very much, even though it takes us about 5-6 hours to get there depending on weather. Usually, we take a road trip and stay there for 2-3 days, but this time we decided to take a one day bus trip for the first time. We started our ride very early and completed it very late, but we had a whole day of fun skiing. The only drawback was the lack of sun.
On the bus. I occupied the whole back seat on the bus, so I could use free WiFi and my laptop comfortably.
Not all of the slopes were opened at the resort, but we still had plenty of trails to explore. It was snowing for most of the day, but was nice and warm. Our previous trips to Snowshoe can be viewed here, here, here and here. Here are some highlights of the current ski trip. The slopes were not too crowded, so we spent more time skiing and less time standing in lines at the lifts.
Dave blends well with the trees in his ski outfit.
We hit greens, blues and one black slope. I didn’t feel comfortable on the black one this time. I guess, I need more practice, and lunch should have been a little lighter. 🙂
We enjoyed the Ball Hooter blue run the most. This trail ends right at the lake near the Boathouse restaurant, a cute place to take a break, warm up with hot beverages or have some food.
The Snowshoe village looks even more beautiful during the holiday season.
I haven’t seen in a while such a big pile of snow right in the middle of the village. My favorite restaurant there, Foxfire grill, served delicious food as always.
It was raining in DC metro area upon our arrival around midnight. More trips to Snowshoe are planned for this winter.
