The MGM Grand Las Vegas is one of the premiere hotels and casinos on the Las Vegas Strip. There is a wide range of things to do at the MGM Grand Hotel, from visiting the African Lion Exhibit to shows and fine dining. We visited this hotel because of the David Copperfield show. We came earlier to explore the hotel itself. Of course, the first thing we saw passing the hotel entrance was the impressive casino.
Rainforest cafe looked festive and busy.
We found the Lion Habitat inside the MGM Grand Hotel, right next to the gaming floor. The Lion Habitat is a showcase for public education and appreciation, featuring up to six adult lions daily. They do not stay at the Habitat full time, but at a ranch 12 miles from the MGM Grand. We did see the lions, but they were sleeping at the time. By the way, we heard that the Lion Habitat will be closed in a couple months or so.
We had dinner in one of the restaurants there. The casino can be viewed from anywhere.
David Copperfield’s show was presented in the Hollywood Theater at MGM. Our seats were at a round table in the second row, but it seems like there’s no bad seat in the Hollywood Theatre where the magic happens.
Perhaps best known as the magician from TV who made the Statue of Liberty disappear, David Copperfield has an amazing arsenal of tricks and illusions that he works into his stage show. While the master of illusion has always been among the best in recent history, he’s matured into one of the best illusionists to ever take the stage.
During the show, we listened to the magician talk about the time he walked through the Great Wall of China as he performed a trick more suited to the stage. At various times, audience members were invited on stage to check things out. My husband Dave was invited on the stage as well, however he still couldn’t see how a full size classic automobile disappeared from the stage. 🙂
The show was AMAZING! David Copperfield was really charming. He often walked along the aisles and constantly interacted with the audience. No photography was allowed, so we weren’t able to take any pictures.
David Copperfield at the MGM Grand is just one of the marquis experiences waiting at this resort. The entertainment complex is also home to CSI: The Experience, an interactive exhibit that brings visitors up close to the world of cutting-edge forensic science. The complex also includes the Ka Theatre, home to a dazzling Cirque du Soleil show, and the Crazy Horse Theatre where an 18-and-up cabaret show is performed.
After the show we took a walk to the shuttle which stopped close to our hotel Aria. The Las Vegas Strip looks beautiful at night! Here is a view of the Excalibur hotel and casino.
