Recently attended Keith Urban’s concert at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, Virginia. Grammy Award winner and American Idol judge Keith Urban brought his “Light The Fuse Tour 2013” with Little Big Town and special guest Dustin Lynch. It was such an enjoyable evening. The concert was absolutely wonderful. Keith and his band put on a great show. He is such a talented guitar player and a good looking guy. Here is his Fuse poster below.
Dustin Lynch took the stage before the actual concert time for a nice short but sweet set including his self-penned hit “Cowboys and Angels” that he explained was written as a love song for his grandparents. The harmonic quartet Little Big Town immediately followed for a high energy performance filled with their early hits such as “Bring it on Home to Me” and “Boondocks” plus several songs from their newest release “Tornado.”
Not long after they walked backstage, Urban quietly strolled on without fanfare and started playing a banjo beginning a two plus hours show that highlighted his mastery of stringed instruments and the piano, and his undeniable flare for entertaining an audience through catchy lyrics and hard to resist charm.
The 45-year-old singer and musician Keith Urban was born in New Zealand and raised in Australia, but he has spent the past decade dwelling on Planet Celebrity. He’s marketed as a country artist, but there’s not a genre Urban is unfit to pick in. The crowd filled the Patriot Center.
During the intermission we attended several Gift Shops at the Patriot Center hall.
For the most part he shared the stage with not only his talented band members, but also Little Big Town who joined him for “You Gonna Fly” and Dustin Lynch returning for “Kiss a Girl.” He stepped into the spotlight for “Stupid Boy” but revved it back up for “Even the Stars Fall 4 U” from his newest release “Fuse.” A backdrop of video screens nicely added to the show highlighting videos and many appreciated up close views of the Australian country star.
But it was Urban at his best when he alone sang a deeply emotional “Without You” engrossed in heartfelt feelings and the moment. His encore also included a solo at the piano for a medley of “But for the Grace of God,” REO Speedwagon’s “Keep on Loving You” and his hit single “Tonight I Wanna Cry.”
I liked a particular special effect that made it look like it was snowing for a little while. It was cool!
Keith Urban is obviously ALL about his fans and his family! He was all over the place singing from different areas in the arena!! He moved from the stage and ended up several rows away from me and sang a couple of songs. It was exciting to see his performance closer, since our seats were pretty far away from the stage.
What’s not to like about Keith Urban? He plays to his audience and he does it extremely well. He even stayed long on stage after his last song to slap as many hands as possible following a great performance sure to please all ages in the crowd.
