Stop at Miami Beach

For our Wedding Anniversary we flew into Miami, and drove down to the FL Keys from there. Being in Miami, we decided to revisit South Beach and my favorite strip there – Ocean Drive.

IMG_1290It was right before Christmas, so the Christmas decorations glittered everywhere. The Christmas Tree at the Reagan National Airport looked beautiful. Our flight to Miami was on time and we landed there in a couple hours.

It took over 2 hours to rent a car and we were on our way to Miami’s South Beach enjoying the sun and the view from the car.

Luckily, we were able to find a parking spot near Ocean Drive quickly and had a short walk to the beach.

I like Miami South Beach. It is spacious with fine white sand. However, the water gets deep quickly there.

When you think of Miami Beach or South Beach, Ocean Drive is what comes to most people’s mind. That is because Ocean Drive is jammed packed with great food, ambiance, strolling and just people watching. A partial Ocean Drive view from the beach.

Ocean Drive runs right along the Atlantic Ocean. With sandy beaches on one side of the street and high-end trendy bars, clubs, restaurants, and hotels on the other. This is the most popular area of South Beach. Some of the key landmarks include the Carlylse Hotel (c. 1939), the Clevelander club, and the mansion formerly owned by Versace.

Ocean Drive looks different from other parts of Miami. It is a mix of antique and modern style buildings, including restaurants, some stores and many hotels. At night it is a good place to walk on the strip, there are always many people around there.

One unique experience Ocean Drive has to offer is the abundance of its Cafe’s and openly viewed menus. We chose the Bice Bistro at Hotel Victor to celebrate our Anniversary. 🙂 We really enjoyed our short stop in Miami Beach.
