Snowshoe Anniversary Trip

This year Dave arranged our Wedding Anniversary mini-vacation at Snowshoe mountain hoping we could spend most of the time skiing. We love skiing at Snowshoe. This mountain has numerous long ski slopes which intersect with one another and you can reach any distant part of the mountain including expert slopes in the Western Territories. This the best closest ski resort in our area. Besides, it has a cute village on the top of the mountain. The village looked nice and festive in preparation for the Holiday season. Here the village’s Christmas Tree in the picture below taken on our last day there.

A Day at Sea World

Second day of our Orlando stay we spent in SeaWorld, which is very different from Magic  Kingdom. We were not disappointed in this park. SeaWorld has Marine life shows, thrill rides, aquariums and up-close encounters with dolphins, penguins and more.

When combined with its neighbor Discovery Cove and Aquatica, it forms SeaWorld Parks Orlando. As of Summer 2014, SeaWorld Orlando has been separated into 8 themed areas, that encompass the Port of Entry and seven “seas”, which are the Sea of Shallows, Sea of Legends, Sea of Ice, Sea of Delight, Sea of Mystery, Sea of Fun, and the Sea of Power.

Magic Kingdom

Every time Dave and I go to see our family in Florida we try to visit some interesting places there. Among them are Disney World and Universal Studios theme parks in Orlando. This time we spent 3 days in Orlando and visited Magic Kingdom, Sea World and Islands of Adventure. Magic Kingdom is a beautiful park and a heaven for kids, but it is not as exciting for the adults.

Magic Kingdom was the only theme park of the 4 Disney World parks in Orlando that I haven’t seen yet, therefore we decided to dedicate one day to experience it. The other 3 Disney World theme parks are Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. Epcot is our favorite Disney park, which we visited numerous times and I would visit it again. This one is the most suitable for the adults. Animal Kingdom is good for visiting equally by adults and kids, although we enjoyed  the Virginia Safari park much more. It was awesome! Hollywood Studios is more for kids as well.

The popularity of the Magic Kingdom park is impressive. Here is an excerpt from 25 Most Visited Theme Parks In The World. “Magic Kingdom was the first built of the four theme parks at the Walt Disney World Resort in Bay Lake, Florida, and is the most-visited theme park in the world. In 2013, the park hosted 18.5 million visitors, making it the most-visited theme park for the fifth consecutive year.” Cinderella Castle, the icon of Magic Kingdom is in the picture below.

A Day of Skiing at Massanutten

It was such a wonderful day this Saturday, that Dave and I quickly decided to drive to one of the nearest ski resorts. Our choice was the Massanutten ski resort located in Virginia’s beautiful Shenandoah Valley in McGaheysville. It was a new place to visit for us and our drive with the Blue Ridge mountain view was very pleasant.

A New Ski Season

In December, Dave and I started a new ski season at Snowshoe Mountain in West Virginia. We enjoy this resort very much, even though it takes us about 5-6 hours to get there depending on weather. Usually, we take a road trip and stay there for 2-3 days, but this time we decided to take a one day bus trip for the first time. We started our ride very early and completed it very late, but we had a whole day of fun skiing. The only drawback was the lack of sun.

Ice-skating at Pentagon Row

A couple weeks ago, Dave and I attended Pentagon Row’s Grand Re-Opening Celebration which featured live performances, large-scale ice sculptures, a show on the ice rink and more. Pentagon Row has undergone an expansive renovation effort and now has an expanded ice rink during the winter, a turf lawn during the summer, revamped outdoor dining areas, lighted water fountains and a stone fire pit.

Safari Village

The Safari Village is a ten acre walk-thru area and a nice addition to the Safari drive-thru. Visitors can buy some food at the gift shop and feed many animals and their babies in the patting area. They also can buy feed sticks and feed these colorful birds, as they perch on your hand. The safari village has a nice variety of animals and I posted pictures of some of them here.

Halloween Fright at Paxton Manor

This weekend, the last weekend of the Shocktober event, Dave and I visited the renowned Paxton Campus to experience a paranormal recreation of what has been deemed to be truly haunted by spirits. The event offers four chilling attractions across the property’s 17 acres: The Paxton Manor, The Haunted Well of Souls, The Funhouse and The Last Ride, each with its own frightening twist.
