This weekend Dave and I had a great time at Virginia Beach, our favorite beach in the area. The weather was perfect, the ocean was warm and calm with some nice waves to ride the boogie boards on.
The Neptune statue was the first sight while we were leaving the parking garage.
We were ready to spend some time at the beach, so our “Beach House” was very handy.
It was nice and relaxing at the beach in the morning and not crowded yet.
We enjoyed these nice long waves. We caught some good rides with the boogie boards.
In the afternoon it got really crowded. By this time, we had enough of the sun and the beach. We still got burnt after all. 🙂
There were many commercial banners carried by helicopter. One of them was a marriage proposal to a girl named Tara. Isn’t it romantic?
The Neptune statue with a turtle in his hand.
It was a very eventful weekend at Virginia Beach, especially at the Inlet area. There was the Atlantic Coast AAU Volleyball Tournament and the Annual East Coast Surfing Championship among other numerous activities.
We rented a hotel in Virginia Beach city, 10 miles from the beach. The hotel was nothing special, but renovated and conveniently located close to shops and restaurants. It has a pool as well.
One of the afternoons, we decided to spend at the Town Point Park at Norfolk, which was only 8 miles away from our hotel. We parked our car and walked across the street towards the Naval museum. This park is located in the heart of the business district in Downtown Norfolk. The museum building looks really nice. We didn’t go inside though.
We reached the Battleship Wisconsin right after passing the Naval Museum.
A view of the city from the opposite site of the Wisconsin’s location.
We stopped at the fountain made for wishing and coin tossing located on the park grounds near the museum.
And took a walk in the park with incredible views of the Elizabeth River harbor.
Opposite of the river view.
The M.Y. Skat Yacht built in 2002 and currently sailing under the flag of the Cayman Islands. We thought it is some kind of battleship. 🙂
This is an interactive fountain that will dance and play with you.

The Town Point Park is a social place where friends meet, eat lunch, chat, stroll, listen to music, work on the wireless network, or simply relax, taking a break from a busy schedule.
Getting back to the parking garage. The city street.
Although we got our food from many different places including WAWA convenient store and gas station, which was just across the street from our hotel, there are a couple new restaurants that we tried discovered in Virginia Beach. Fuji Hana Sushi is an all you can eat sushi (and not only sushi) Japanese restaurant and was adjacent to our hotel. Great food for a reasonable prices. We were impressed with this restaurant. Next time when we visit VA Beach, we won’t miss this restaurant.
Aberdeen Barn Steak House is a high end steakhouse with great food. We enjoyed our dinner there.
My very loyal New York Giants fan.
Morning of the day we were leaving Virginia Beach, we spent at the beach. We didn’t swim in the ocean – we were burnt enough by then, but just walked on the beach and boardwalk. The Neptune Statue again with the morning sun behind.
The beach looked so peaceful that morning.
The Virginia Beach Low Enforcement Memorial is almost at the end of the boardwalk.
The exercising equipment looks neat.
And the beautiful hibiscus growing along the boardwalk.
Back to our car through the shopping complex.
